About SGODev
SGODev is the shared identity for two independent dev teams — Sansha Games and Oragz Studio — making games, applications, and flight-sim addons. We publish updates and link out to platforms like itch.io, Patreon, Discord, Flightsim.to, Nexus Mods, and our community forum, where you can follow our work or download our releases.
SGODev is not a registered business or trademark.
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, the terms “we,” “us,” or “our” refer to the owner(s) of the SGODev website at https://www.sgodev.com. The terms “you” or “your” refer to the visitor or user.
1. Introduction
Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information when you visit our website. The site is built with Next.js, hosted on Vercel, and uses Sanity for content management.
By using this website, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
2. GDPR Roles and Responsibilities
For purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we act as the Data Controller for any personal data you voluntarily submit (e.g., emails or Discord messages sent to us). We do not act as a Data Processor on behalf of any other party.
We do not process sensitive personal data and we do not engage in automated decision-making or profiling.
3. Information We Collect
The website itself collects almost nothing:
- Language preference: A small cookie (
locale=enorlocale=zh) records your chosen language so the site loads correctly on return visits. This contains no personal information. - Server logs: Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically logs standard request data such as IP address, user agent, and timestamp for the purposes of operating and securing the site. We do not access these logs for marketing.
- Voluntary communications: If you email us at support@sgodev.com or message us via Discord, your message and identifier (email address, Discord username) are stored within those services until no longer needed.
We do not use Google Analytics, Plausible, or any other third-party analytics scripts. We do not set advertising, profiling, or tracking cookies.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process personal data under the following grounds:
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): When you contact us via email or Discord, you do so voluntarily and consent to our reading and responding to that message.
- Legitimate Interest (Article 6(1)(f)): Operating the website (basic server logs, language preference) is processed under our legitimate interest in providing a working website.
You can withdraw any prior consent at any time by contacting us (see Section 13).
5. Cookies
This website sets a single cookie:
locale— stores your language choice (English or 简体中文). Functional / strictly necessary. Expires after one year. Required for the language switcher to remember your preference between visits.
No analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies are set by us. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work, you'll just need to choose your language each visit.
6. How We Use Your Information
We use any information you submit only to:
- Respond to your messages, support requests, or partnership inquiries.
- Communicate with you via Discord if you have joined our server.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties for marketing.
7. Data Sharing and International Transfers
We do not share your personal data directly with third parties. Our website relies on a small number of service providers that may process technical data on our behalf:
- Vercel (USA) hosts our website and processes standard request logs.
- Sanity (USA) hosts the project content we publish. Sanity does not process visitor data; it stores the content (game descriptions, images) we put in front of you.
- Image delivery is handled by Sanity's content network.
When you click outbound links to Discord, Patreon, itch.io, Flightsim.to, Nexus Mods, or our community forum at forum.sgodev.com, you leave our site and become subject to that destination's own privacy policy. We have no control over the data those services collect.
Service providers may store data on servers outside the EU. We rely on their published safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.
8. Data Retention
- The
localecookie expires automatically after 12 months unless renewed by a return visit. - Vercel server logs are retained according to Vercel's policy (typically around 30 days).
- Emails and Discord messages you send us are retained only as long as needed to respond to or follow up on your inquiry.
9. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or a jurisdiction with similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of any data we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate data.
- Deletion — ask us to delete your personal data.
- Restriction — request limits on how we use your data.
- Objection — object to our use of your data (where based on legitimate interest).
- Withdraw consent — withdraw any previously given consent.
- Data portability — request your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@sgodev.com. We respond to all requests within 30 days.
Note: we can only process requests for data you submitted directly to us. For data collected by external services we link to (Discord, Patreon, etc.), please contact them directly.
10. Children's Privacy
This website is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware of such data, we will delete it promptly.
11. Your Right to Complain
If you believe your personal data is being misused and you are in the EU/EEA, you can file a complaint with your national Data Protection Authority. A list is available at the European Data Protection Board.
12. Voluntary Data Provision
You can browse this website without providing any personal information. Contacting us by email or joining our Discord is entirely optional.
13. Data Security
The site is served exclusively over HTTPS. Our hosting and CMS providers (Vercel, Sanity) maintain industry-standard security practices. While we take reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. Please contact us if you suspect a security issue.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” at the top. We recommend checking this page periodically for updates.
